COSEE Coastal Trends provides an orientation for the scientist-educator teams prior to the start of their summer research. This program is designed to introduce team members to each other and to their research project, and includes content overview of the each of the focus themes, the how-to of module development, and detailed information on follow-up expectations.
The orientation program also focuses on building each team member's science communication skills through instruction in website development, conceptual diagram construction, and graphics software.
By the end of the orientation, teams determine key messages about their research topics and develop an engaging "story" upon which modules will be based.
