Connecting Scientists and Educators - 03.09.2010

COSEE Coastal Trends works to establish pathways linking current scientific research to broad audiences. Scientists generally do an excellent job communicating their findings within the scientific community through publications, presentations, and professional conferences and meetings. However, there tends to be a disconnect between the knowledge gained through scientific research and public understanding of scientific concepts. That’s why we have established the Scientist-Educator Partnership Program, which fosters collaboration among scientists and educators and which broadly disseminates the important science behind the trends occurring in our coastal oceans.

Scientist-Educator Teams, consisting of a scientist, teacher, graduate student, and undergraduate conduct summer research and work together to create web-accessible resources based on the research. We then broadly disseminate the research-based education resources created by the teams on a national scale.
